OUR WORK SPEAKS
FOR ITSELF
Watch our last performance at the TINE AFRICA Awards.
Join us in celebrating excellence at the TINE Africa Awards, an event designed to honor professionals who tirelessly contribute to the recruitment numbers of their institutions. This flagship event, hosted by Prince Louis Adekola, took place on December 8th, 2023, in Lagos.
Central to the summit was the theme, “Thinking Ahead: Envisioning the Future of International Education in Sub-Saharan Africa.” In a dynamic African market marked by artificial intelligence, aggregation, unstable economies, and socio-political uncertainties, the summit engaged in proactive conversations about new ways of doing business.
Frikanah Theatre Company added another feather to its cap at the TINE Africa Awards. We delivered a successful and well-received performance of the Ondo and Edo traditional dances. Accompanied by drums and choruses, we contributed to the vibrant and thought-provoking atmosphere of this prestigious event.
In 2022, Frikanah Theatre Company staged a two-day extravaganza, celebrating the cultural diversity of Nigeria through Naija Saga: The Play. This event, attended by approximately 10,000 individuals both online and offline, marked a significant milestone in our theatrical journey.
Hon. Olawale Akinlosotu, Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, and esteemed staff of the Ondo State Ministry of Culture and Tourism graced the occasion. The presence of veteran broadcaster Deacon Olalekan Olanrewaju added a touch of distinction to an already illustrious gathering.
Collaborations with sponsors like the University of Sussex, Ondo State Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Mazek Fashion House, and Film House Cinema were instrumental in bringing this cultural celebration to life. Through the power of theater, we showcased the resilience of the Nigerian spirit and its capacity to instigate positive change.
Naija Saga epitomizes our commitment to addressing critical social, economic, and political issues through detailed narratives and stunning visuals. In the tradition of Frikanah Theatre Company, Naija Saga served as a captivating journey through the heart of Nigeria’s challenges and triumphs. With impactful performances that ignite conversations, we aim to bring societal issues to the forefront, prompting reflection and, ultimately, inspiring change.
In the vibrant tapestry of Frikanah Theatre Company’s portfolio, Àșà stands as a captivating masterpiece, weaving together the essence of culture, music, poetry, and dance. This electrifying showcase unfolded on the hallowed grounds of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, during a meticulously prepared evening that took three months to crystallize.
Under the creative supervision of Mr. Akinyemi TAG and Mr. Adeniyi Eric, Àșà aimed not merely to entertain but to immerse the audience in a cultural symphony. It marked the inaugural performance of “Naija Saga: The Play,” setting the stage for a night that would be etched in the memories of the 250 attendees.

In the heart of Adekunle Ajasin University, Frikanah Theatre Company orchestrated Ara, an exhibition program that unfolded in the vibrant ambiance opposite Obasanjo Multipurpose Hall. Ara celebrated creators, artisans, and fine artists. This event aimed to provide a platform for talent to shine, potentially finding appreciative homes for the exquisite artworks on display.
Art is a universal language, and we speak it well. In December 2022, we were at the Eko Hotels and Suites, to perform at the AYuTe Africa Challenge, an annual innovation of Heifer International in a bid to accelerate digital agriculture entrepreneurship in Africa.
We opened with an energetic dance routine known as Obitun, native to the Ondo people of south west Nigeria. The pace, and props of the routine got the crowd excited but we were only just getting started. We followed with a short and engaging play that spoke to the importance of innovation and technology in agriculture, which was the theme of the event.
Our performances at the Ayute event proves that there are no limits or boundaries except the ones you draw for yourself.
We bowed out of the stage with another dance routine, which was fun and on a much lighter note than the first, leaving the audience refreshed and entertained.
